Police Hacking Infrastructure
Police forces are allowed to hack into systems of suspects. This requires an infrastructure that allows the police forces to monitor activities of the suspects without compromising their own infrastructure. In most cases malicious software is used that forwards the suspects computer usage to a system on the Internet.
Using the Fox DataDiode, these messages and files can be received by the police force systems without the risk of leaking confidential data or remote compromise of the police force infrastructure.
Tax Return - Drop box
To facilitate the tax-return process, the tax authority requires citizens to digitally fill in their tax forms and e-mail them to the tax office, using the Internet. These forms are subsequently transferred automatically to the back office where they are processed.
Internally, the tax administration is split into two separate networks: an unprotected network connected to the Internet; and the back office network that handles all national tax data and which is therefore deemed highly secure. Once in the hands of the tax authority, this tax data has to be secured and any leakage at this point is therefore totally unacceptable.
Internet Interception
Internet Service Providers are frequently required to intercept internet data. This data needs to be subsequently transmitted digitally, in real time and without risk of data leakage, to a high-security network for analysis by the police or intelligence agencies.
Using the Fox DataDiode, intercepted signals are transformed into digital data and packaged in low-level network packets for secure transfer to the high-security network.

Collection of passport and visa data from border access points like airports, train terminals, harbours, and other locations where people pass a country's borders, is an essential factor for maintaining border security. The data is collected and sent to a central collection area for further processing and correlation, usually within a border control agency part or the ministry of internal affairs.
